|The Fancy Pants Adventures: World 2|
The Fancy Pants Adventures: World 2 is a platformer created by Brad Borne and the sequel to The Fancy Pants Adventures. A demo of World 2 was released in 2007. In 2009, Borne announced that after the '09 Comic Con, he would start working on World 3. A console version of FPA was released on XBLA and PSN in April 2011.
The playable character in the game is called Fancy Pants Man. He is a two dimensional stick figure with spiky, choppy hair, wearing only a pair of orange triangular-shaped pants. The main character dashes through open levels, avoiding obstacles and defeating enemies. These enemies consist of spiders, snails and mice armed with guns. Enemies can be defeated by being jumped upon and then being kicked while they are still dazed. As Fancy Pants Man runs through the different levels, there are many "squiggles" floating in mid-air. They serve two different functions. Firstly, they refill Fancy Pants Man's life meter by 5% if he has been damaged, and they also give the player an extra life for every hundred collected.
There are springboards to fling you upwards, cannons to send you flying, curling cliffsides to sprint up, and hills that propel you in many directions. The game has a fairly fast pace but is not averse to slowing down and letting you explore. In fact, there are several hidden areas you can find if you take the time to look. Each of the six levels have a hidden bonus stage with art from one six guest artists. At the end of each level, there is a collectible trophy and these trophies can be viewed from the Main menu. Also, on each level is a Golf hole and a flagpole with colored pants hanging from it. If the player can find the snail enemy on the level, defeat it and kick the snail's shell into the golf hole, the pants color is unlocked and the player can choose it from the Main menu.
At the start of the game, Fancy Pants Man is given an Ice Cream by the Mayor for showing impressive skills in the game of Fancy Golfball. A rabbit shows up and steal the Ice Cream. The player has to journey through six levels to reach the rabbit, which is the final boss of the game.
