Anika's Odyssey - Land of the Taniwha is a point-and-click adventure game Help Anika explore her colorful landscape as she journeys to reclaim her beloved friend. The game was designed and programmed by Jeff Nusz, with art by Tom Robinson.

Gameplay[]

Anika's Odyssey is a magical adventure deep into a lush and enchanted land full of curious spirits and exotic creatures inspired by Aotearoa, New Zealand. You begin with the innocent task of gathering water from the well. As a great eagle swoops from the sky and absconds with your rabbit pal, you use the bucket as a stool and jump the fence to begin your adventure.

The game is entirely mouse-controlled and revolves around clicking hotspots on the screen to trigger various events. Your cursor will change when you hover over a clickable object. In order to look around the environment for the next object, just hover the mouse over the edge of the screen and the screen scrolls in that direction. The game is largely exploration-based, so it's important to pay attention to your surroundings. The puzzles are not very difficult and more of less consist of looking for the next object to click or figuring out the correct order to trigger events.

Anika's Odyssey is a story-driven game with beautiful graphics and lots of charm. The game tells a short but engaging tale through beautiful visuals with layered backgrounds that give the illusion of depth. The music is equally enchanting and, when paired with the story of a young girl on a quest, conveys the rather innocent sense of adventure Anika must feel herself.
